The 2026 Inaugural LRC Reliability Ride

Reliability rides are traditionally held early in the season as a good test of fitness and to see how well maintained your bike is coming out of the winter months. Club member, Jonathan Pye, was the brainchild behind the Club’s first ever LRC Reliability Ride which was held on Saturday 11th April, 2026.

The beautiful, ‘undulating’, 100K route took riders out from Scales, Ulverston, rolling down the side of Coniston, before heading upwards to Blea Tarn, with a lovely lumpy return leg taking in Hawkshead, Graythwaite and Penny Bridge.

Some riders were testing their legs before the upcoming Fred Whitton Challenge, others were just happy to be out riding and taking in the spectacular views. Either way, the firm south westerly wind certainly made it a good test of fitness! All riders finished under their own steam, and were rewarded with a huge sense of satisfaction, pie ‘n peas, cakes and drinks back at base headquarters.
