Tour of Breedon at Griffydam

From Brian Pearson:

This weekend’s [02/08/2025] journey was a round trip of 380 miles to the Tour of Breedon at Griffydam for round 7 of the Percy Stallard series.

With 5 laps of a lumpy course and a full field of 40 riders, the racing was tough from the start with any attacks being chased down immediately. At the start of the last lap one rider got a gap which myself and another rider managed to jump across to followed by another group of 6. The group kept splitting and reforming as rider tried to miss turns but we managed to stay away to the finish. With 1km to go we hit the last ascent of the 8% Vinegar Hill and all the sandbaggers came to life and it was full gas up it and round the lefthand corner and along the 350 meter long drag to the finish.

Unfortunately my legs decided enough was enough but I managed to hang on for 7th place with Elsie doing a sterling job waving the chequered flag.

The after race cakes supplied by All About Deserts who sponsored the race went down a treat.
